Kazimir Severinovich Malevich was born near Kiev in the Kiev Governorate of the Russian Empire. He studied in Moscow from 1902 to 1910, and when he visited Paris in 1912, he immediately converted to Cubism, attacking this new style with zeal and improving and refining it in a style which he called Suprematism. Under Suprematism, said Malevich, I understand the supremacy of pure feeling in creative art. His exhibition of Suprematist art in 1915 gained a mixed reception and he subsequently modified his style, rejecting the stark minimalism of such works as Black Square and injecting a great deal of color. But he reverted to his ideals in 1918 with a series of paintings entitled White on White. Download Malevich lifework now, and experience the world of Suprematism in one mega app!
